Elections

Members of the Association shall be eligible to vote and/to stand for elections in the determination of the leadership and other decisions of the association.

  • Elections shall be either by secret ballot or by show of hands as the General Meeting may decide.
  • Before any member is elected, he shall be nominated and seconded
  • A member who has signified his willingness in writing to the Re-turning Officer to stand, may however be elected in absentia.
  • The Elections to the Executive Committee, the Standing

Committees and of the representatives of the Association to the various affiliated entities shall be by a simple majority vote of all members present and voting.

  • The Executive committee shall serve a term of 2 years and shall be eligible for re-election for another term of office only once
  • A founding executive committee shall be elected within one month

after the registration of the association

    • Notwithstanding other provisions of these articles, the founding executive committee elected under section 3(f) above shall serve an initial term of 3 years and thereafter legible for re-election only for a term of 2 years

The Right of Recall:

(a) Members shall have the right to recall, at anytime, of any executive member or representative who will not have discharged his duties and responsibilities to the satisfaction of membership.

(b) Such right shall be exercised by a petition to the secretary/Chairperson at any time provided the said petition bears the name, and signatures of more than fifty percent members of the association.

(c) In the event of this petition being received, a notice of the meeting and subject matter shall be publicized two weeks in advance for a general meeting to discuss the issue.  It shall require a vote of two-thirds majority of members present and voting to resolve the matter.
